Unbeaten Hereford nearly lost their 100% league record at Portway. In the first minute the visitors took advantage of a knock on from fly half Mikey Thomas on his own line. From the scrum his opposite number went over for a converted try. Then in the 8th minute further poor play from the home side led to a catch and drive in the line out for an un converted try. Injuries to both Bees centres, Dan Bagby and skipper Josh Wardle saw Charlie Truepenny convert to centre and Liam Baber and Tom Cooper enter proceedings.
On 30 minutes Bees finally goy their act together when from a scrum No 8 Simon Ridler went over from close range, after a great break and pass from scrum half Cameron Powell.
The Bees forwards began to take greater control, with Nash, Watson Dhani-Ali and Maye doing a job in the loose and creating more continuity and phases into their play, and with Hereford going offside, a quick tap penalty saw Thomas make up for his earlier error, straightening up, feeding centre Baber who then put Dight in space to race clear under the posts and then convert.
The second half continued in similar fashion for Bees, With forwards Jack Lazenby and Oliver Purser entering the contest and making an immediate impact, Hereford threw everything at them but the home side defensive line tackled heroically, keeping them pinned back and forcing them into mistakes.
Then a fine line break from George Rees looked promising but support was slow and the ball was turned over. Fly half Thomas was now kicking well for position and a show and go put him through a gap but winger Dight overran as a try went begging.
However shortly afterwards Powell broke down the blind side, fed Dight who beat two players but was held just short but Baber was on hand to go over in the corner. At 17 all Dight saw his conversion attempt drift just wide!
