Having lost two key players at Hereford the previous week through injury and a red card, a number of the Bees under 17’s stepped up to the mark, with prop Mason Dhani-Ali and second row Jack Lazenby starting.
The home side made the perfect start after 4 minutes when hooker Sam Covill took the ball against the head in a scrum on the visitors 22, scum half Cameron Powell raced clear and put wing Tom Cooper in for a try, converted by Matthew Dight, who then missed with a penalty 5 minutes later.
Further Bees pressure should have provided another try but slow ball allowed Kidderminster to re-group and prevent a certain score.
On 18 minutes after a period of possession the visitors ran wide leaving full back Matthew Bentley the last man but a try saving tackle prevented a certain score. However they did gain a try when their right winger broke through some weak tackling to score a converted try.
Within 5 minutes Bees were back in front when no. 8 Billy Castle picked up to crash over from a scrum. The conversion was missed.With Castle off receiving treatment, under 17 Oliver Purser entered the game asBees then withstood a long period of pressure from Kidderminster but held firm on their own line after a series of 5 metre scrums up until the break.
At the restart the home side put themselves under pressure with a knock on from the kick off. The visitors then proceeded to stay in the Bees 22 for 10 minutes and only a spirited defence kept them out. However a visit into their opponents half saw Dight covert a penalty to lead by two scores 15-7. He then proceeded to finish off a fine break from centre Dan Bagby. He also added the extras. Then under 17’s, Connor Caney and Jack Allen entered the fray.
More possession for Bees saw a 5 metre scrum as no. 8 Castle again picked up and repeated his score from the first half to ensure a try bonus point. The conversion was missed.
