Dec and the Baguette

Colin Heward7 May 2018 - 19:53

Eight try victory ends league campaign

Not yesterday’s sunshine but decent conditions at Wolverhampton. Bees with just Ollie from the U18s today for the Colts fixture.
Bees start with the ball finding touch just past the 10m. Bees take possession from the lineout , recycle quickly and attack down the blindside with Cory going over in the corner. Great start for 0-5.
Wolverhampton restart but knock on. Bees secure possession from the scrum and PJ makes ground to the 22 before knocking on. Advantage played a couple of times with later knock ons and advantage before play slowed for a Bees scrum. Bees secure ball and find touch in Wolverhampton's 22. Wolverhampton secure ball from their lineout and recycle a couple of times in their 22, before Bees earn turnover, recycle and get the ball out wide to Josh to go over on 7 minutes for 0-10.
Bees bright start woke Wolverhampton who kick to within 5m after Bees go offside. N/s give Bees scrum ball and progress made to the 22 before Bees clear long. Wolverhampton return to halfway and Bees knock on in contact. From their scrum Wolverhampton attack wide but are into touch. Bees maul strongly from their lineout and then attack wide and clear before being brought back for a forward pass. Lots of active competition eventually sees Bees offside and Wolverhampton kick deep into Bees 22. Lineout secured and Wolverhampton press recycling well but Bees defence holds firm before going offside. Wolverhampton run but dogged Bees defence again holds firm before going offside. Same again and Bees eventually get turnover and clear after Wolverhampton offend. Having weathered the storm Bees make good progress up into the 22 recycling well and driving over the line to close out the half but unfortunately held up. Highlight of the end of the first half exchanges was a well worked exchange with Will L and Cole down the wing.
Wolverhampton restart long but offend in Bees 22. Bees run, recycle and go wide with Dec on a long baguette fuelled run down the touchline and over on 36 minutes for 0-15.
Don't know if Bees thought it was done but Wolverhampton didn't racking up the next two scores 7 and 10 minutes later to bring the game back to 12-15.
Wake up call heeded and a kickstarted Bees firing again. A try every 5 minutes now to the close. Cory up first from in the 22 (no knock on there). Dec going over with a charge out wide. Aggy had found his sights now so no need to get too close to the posts especially with a baguette bubbling. Dec up again with a strong run wide so hattrick and lunch soon revisited. Nathan up next with a run the blueprint for which might confuse even the guy who designed the Hampton Court maze. Game finally finished off with a good score from Will R, to end proceedings 12-48. Well done all, some great stuff out there today.
