The early pressure from Bees came to nothing as Bromsgrove capitalised on their opponents poor tackling out wide to score two converted tries from their own 22, both in similar fashion. Determined tackling from the home side kept the visitors in their own half and a Bees penalty kick at goal blew wide in the difficult cross wind. Good cross field kicking from the half backs Joe Clifton and Patrick Lindsay put regular pressure on Bromsgrove, but as they struggled to secure line out ball, Bees couldn't capitalize. However they should have scored shortly afterwards when a series of drives 5 metres out from Alex Lowe and Wasim Alkahlout led to just a penalty and a warning for Bromsgrove from the referee.
The second half began with Bromsgrove scoring yet another converted try out wide from inside their own half. Bees then responded with a simple interception for Josh Hunt to score and convert his own try. A further try for the visitors as an overlap was created as Bees went down to 13 men due to injuries. Hunt then responded with a penalty before both sides traded tries in the next 5 minutes.
As the game reached the close the Bromsgrove centre broke through the middle to score as Bees began to tire.
