Having gone 24-0 down Bees dominated the final 15 minutes and should have got something from the game. The first 14 minutes saw Bees with plenty of possession but couldn't' get their three quarters moving fluently and good defence from their hosts also prevented any scoring. In fact the first two scores from Luctonians were achieved when Bees had possession! Firstly a line out, where throwing was always difficult in the strong wind and advantage played from the not straight and secondly Joe Clifton's clever box kick held up in the wind and a resulting penalty for offside led to a catch and drive from their line out. The first was converted.
Just on half time another Bees error when touch wasn't found from a penalty saw the home side cross for a try in the corner.
The second half again saw the visitors pressing hard and with Dan Truepenny moving into the front row scrummage ball was plentiful as centres Hari Ladwa and Liam Baber began to link well, together with some accurate kicking for position from Patrick Lindsay, making use of the breeze. In the back row Jacob Lisle made hard yards with the ball in hand as Bees found quick tap penalties more effective than kicking for touch. However slightly against the run of play Luctonians crossed for a converted try when two of their big forwards linked well breaking numerous tackles.
At 24-0 a minor skirmish between a number of players seemed to fire up the Bees team and they scored immediately when backs Josh Hunt and Charlie Truepenny moved the ball to wing George Mulingani who raced clear to score. Hunt added the extras. Further pressure from the bees forwards saw the two Jack's (Allen and skipper Lazenby) drive close with Conall Maye, Alex Lowe and Connor Caney adding support as the home side killed the ball as the referee awarded a penalty try, converted by Hunt.
A spirited comeback, which is becoming quite common with the team this season, however today it was too little, too late!
