Having dominated the first half and then taking a 10-0 lead Bees were forced to defend for the last 10 minutes to ensure victory.
The home side started in confident mood taking the game to their opponents with plenty of possession for the backs with Bees enjoying the return of hooker Sam Covill and prop George Nash, who helped make a difference in the forwards. Centres Liam Baber and Charlie Truepenny looked to find gaps in the Sils defensive line but numerous errors prevented any scores. The visitors seemed to want to run the ball out instead of using the stiff breeze to put the ball into Bees territory.
Bees had to wait until the 24th minute to gain their first try, from a quick tap penalty 5 metres out from fly half Patrick Lindsay. Josh hunt missed with the conversion. As the half time whistle went Bees began to rue the lack of points on the board that could have cost them the game.
The second half started well with Lindsay kicking well out of hand with the wind behind him to keep play in the Sils half. Hunt and wing George Mulingani made breaks forward and from an ensuing penalty 10 metres out scrum half Joe Clifton took it quickly and darted over out wide for a try. Again the conversion was missed.
As the home side were reduced to 14 with an injury the visitors made some substitutions and came back strongly with a try of their own when from a penalty they ran at pace as Bees defence buckled. The extras were added.
With still 15 minutes to go the home side, although back to 15 players, hung on with some heroic tackling as Sils failed to get another score.
