13 man colts turn on the style

First half domination seals win

With two late cry offs 13 man Bees knew they had to do that little bit extra to ensure victory. The first half saw them enjoy the slope and wind in their favour, scoring immediately from a turnover that put centre Dan Millichap through for a try, converted by Matt Dight. Shortly afterwards scrum half Ben Phillips chased his own kick to the corner to touch down for an unconverted try. The Bees backs certainly looked sharp as the home side's backs struggled to cope with the pace and power of their opponents. Fly half Ollie Russell directed operations well creating plenty of space for both centres and full back Matt Bentley to cross the gain line.
Dight then made up for knocking on over the line by scoring from deep after receiving a high kick and rounding the covering defence for a try he also converted. With the Bees forwards in rampant mood and securing lots of possession in the loose flanker George Rees carried well and fed hooker Matt Hind who couldn't quite make the line. Further runs from centre Dan Bagby and second row Billy Castle increased the pressure on the home side and when they moved the ball themselves Dight intercepted and went in under the posts for a converted try.
Just before the break flanker Cameron Powell was rewarded for all his hard work, stealing the ball and diving over near the posts. Dight converted.
The second half saw Bees continue in similar fashion when Phillips broke strongly from the 22, evading two tackles to score in the corner. He missed the conversion. At 38-0 the visitors continued to press forward but all their hard work had taken its toll as the 13 Bees began to tire, allowing Shipston to score 3 well worked tries of their own in the last 10 minutes, two of which were converted.
