Birmingham & Solihull Rugby Club are pleased to announce that Jack Jolly has been appointed Club Captain for the forthcoming season.
A former Wasps academy player, Jolly has been with the club from the age of 10 years, coming through the Age Grade rugby ranks and making his first team debut for the Bees in 2011.
Since then he has become a key member of the squad, able to play in either half back role. In his time with the club he has gained experience in National League 1, NLN2 and more recently Level 5 rugby in NL3M. He was the Bees’ top points scorer last season, notching up a total of 186 points in 18 appearances.
Jolly takes over the reins from Chris Goddard, who will be joining Stourbridge next season.
“I am delighted and honoured to be taking on the role of Club Captain next season” said Jack Jolly. There is a real hunger and desire in the squad to kick on from our fifth placed finish last season and I can’t wait to get started when our pre-season programme starts on 13th June.”
“We have a good mix of senior players, talented youngsters coming through the ranks, as well as some exciting additions to the squad and I am personally determined to help set and maintain the standards that we will need to show throughout the season.”
Commenting on the appointment, Bees Head of Rugby Pete Glackin said “Jack shares my passion and ambition to drive the development of senior rugby at the club forward and has the skill, experience and leadership qualities required to take on this important role.”
“With the support and input from senior players, I am sure that Jack will be able to lead by example not only on the pitch, but also at every other level in the club where his influence off the pitch will be equally as important.”
