A long, long time ago when the lads had to crook their necks to see the faces of their coaches, Bees had faced up to scrum capped automatons from the dark north; Lymm.
And so it was Bees travelled past the Country of Black and into the area of the Ravens of Moor and near the Wich of Nant to their opponents Lair.
Nonsense out of the way now, Lymm provided great hospitality and a team that closed out Bees for the first time in many, many years taking the fixture 19-0.
Bees made lots of mistakes, many uncharacteristic but they were undone by good Lymm defence and a territory game played to near perfection. Bees managed a high tempo in patches of the game but never with the frequency that enabled them to exercise any real control in the opposition half. Bees won the scrum battle but with the 1m rule Lymm did what they needed to at scrum time and generally ensured the game was played to their strengths.
So full credit to Lymm.
Three wishes for the next match up though, A different end, ref and bigger pitch.
For Day 2 a wet Sunday and over to Winnington Park RFC where this time both sides were beaten by the weather. Water polo anyone?
So another tour done and special thanks to all contributors. We really must get Chef a bed.
Worryingly Bieber Tshirts and skirts worn but not a single member of the fairer sex to be seen. 2018 is already being dubbed the Closet Tour.
