A listless opening from Bees saw Derby dominate the early stages and justly grab the opening try. Bees were gifted field position form the kick off through a knock on and then offside enabling Lewis H to crash over in the corner and even the scores. The Derby restart didn't go 10 and from the resulting field position Bees were able to work through several phases before passing out wide for prop/winger Lewis to bag his second at pace down the line.
Bees were still not firing and were undone in midfield and then outpaced into the corner. The last few minutes of the first half were probably Bees best with Josh muscling over for try 3. A fourth beckoned but Derby managed to turn the ball over on the line and clear. Half - time Derby 10 - Bees 15. Against the wind in the second half Bees started more positively but were either held up and turned over at the ruck when in the Derby half and the hosts deservedly added the next two scores in opposite corners. 20-15. With the game in its dying embers sub Noah kicked through the gap and Dec had read this well to again even the scores. The conversion was not good and the game ended 20-20.
