Bees U12s fight back to overcome larger talented squad

After a blustery and confused start the parents found the pitch, then the coaches and Manager arrived!! The treck was enough to exhaust us all and demoralise us as there was no coffee and no bacon sarnies in a 10 mile radius, deflated and beaten before the 1st whistle.
Fortunately the crowed had bought their own flasks and snacks to take us through the nail biting match.
Also some fresh legs turned up in the form of Buster and Tigger (Tiggy) the mascot dogs.

With some warm up drills done the lads and lasses were warmed up and ready for the whistle.

Game one 1st half.

A than positive start from the Bees with Ollie trouncing through the Tamworth field within the 1st 2 minutes of play, 1st try Boom!. 1-0 to the Bees. Tamworth were motivated by this and upped a gear in their intensity, this was assisted by a lacklustre bees defence that allowed Tamworth to level the score back to 1-1.
The home team took full advantage again of Bees defence lapses and with some well organised disciplined play they powered through again and again to end the half 3-1 to Tamworth
The Bees did show some promise with Lauren making some good quality gutsy tackles and some good piercing runs by Joe, George, Sam and Ollie

2nd half

Tamworth started as they had left off, and went straight to business making it 1-0 for the half.
The Bees battled back and in good spirits and proved they were a force to be reckoned with. With a resurgent bees squad showing their potential form they linked 5 passes to put Joe through who continued his form and had a fantastic run to even the half to 1-1.
The rest of the half was even with Tamworths top player finding the try line to end the half 2-1 to the home side.

Final score Tamworth 5 Bees 2

Game 2

A quick break and a pep talk from the coaches and game 2 was about to start. The Bees had one sub throughout the 2 games and the Tamworth lot had many a player to pick and choose from, 8 at a push.

A better start from the Bees, but they were starting to struggle against the fresh legs of Tamworth subs. 1-0 to them. However Ollie snatched the ball from an opposition pass and was on his toes, up to full speed nobody was catching him striding to the try line to level the half 1-1. Overall a well balanced half but with the Bees still needing to tighten their defences.

2nd half

Time for another team talk
But Tamworth came out fighting again after making some changes and took the 2nd half lead 1-0 them. This finally woke the Bees up!! Hurrah, the team started to pull together and look lively. A well guided kick from Sam gained ground and the Bees were on the attack. Lockie feeding on the positive attitude grabbed the ball with the grit and determination of a superhero. He powered and smiled his way through a massive wall of Tamworth defence to pull the half level. Game on!!!! This again lifted the mood and everyone mucked in for one last push. Joe again grabbing the opportunity to show his strength and determination powered across the line to score and claim the second game home for the Bees, and well deserved too!

Final score Tamworth 2 Bees 3

Well done the Bees who showed some perseverance and quality. Worth noting that having only one sub for the two games the players were out on their feet at the end. To win the last game showed true character and they should all be proud of themselves!!

Thank you to Jim Clarke for the report
