Bees u 11s vs Sutton Coldfield
With Sutton bringing only their top ten players for this fixture, it was always destined to be a tough match. Bees were unable to contain the Sutton attackers in the first two matches and were 5 tries down by the time the second game ended. However in the last match of the morning Bees finally got their act together. Playing the game in the Sutton half and applying pressure Bees won good ball and with swift hands, the ball found Noah who delivered an accurate pass to Brendan who outstripped the defence for Bees first score of the day. Despite great tackling from Luca and debutante Louie, Sutton managed to level the score but Bees were soon on the attack again with Joe and Robert creating the hard yards and Oliver finishing off the move Bees looked to have won the final match but a late try by Sutton meant that Bees finished the morning with a draw.
It was a tough encounter against the very best of Sutton’s squad and consequently Bees can take pride from the fact that they battled to the very end and matched Sutton man for man (and girl) in the final game. It was great to see Louie joining the Bees family and making an impact in his first appearance and it was superb seeing the wonderful team attitude and ethos that the players displayed on the pitch. Even when they went behind, they still held their heads up and never gave up.
I would write more and detail every minute detail of the game however I am afraid that I have kittens that need to be fussed. I will just finish by saying that I was really pleased with every player today and look forward to getting back on the winning path next week when we face Banbury.
