Bees Swarm Back to Form

After a quick rucking masterclass, Bees under 11s took to the slightly sodden pitch to face Tamworth. From the very first contact it was clear that Bees had taken the lesson to heart and they soon began to dominate the breakdown. This meant that for the first time this season the ball emerged quickly from rucks and Bees were able to attack the space. Noah had a superb game at fly half making some brilliant kicks and distributing the ball fluidly. Brendan was in the centre and taking advantage of the quick ball, had soon helped himself to the first of his four tries. Whilst Brendan was finding gaps out wide, Summer was taking a more direct route and bulldozed her way straight through the middle of the defence to score a great individual try. Fraser was on fabulous form out-wide and was on hand to race clear to score, as was Stephen, who once again proved unflappable under the high ball and added two more tries to his tally for the season.
By the end of the first quarter Bees had pulled to a 6 try lead however Tamworth were no weak opposition and it was testament to the power of Bees’ defence that the opposition could not cross the line. Will A (continuing his great run of form) made some powerful tackles and Tyler had a great defensive game really stepping up his tackle count and making some big hits.
With Will B in marauding form, Tamworth were unable to stop his powerful drive up the middle for a opportunist try and when Oliver joined the fray the gaps started to open and Oliver crossed for two great scores.
By the time the half way point was reached Bees had scored 12 times and Tamworth were yet to trouble the score sheet but after the break Tamworth came back with some really potent attacks and Bees struggled to contain the big runners. After a couple of unanswered Tamworth tries Bees needed revitalising and the man for the job was Charlie. With typical tenacity Charlie ripped the ball from the arms of one of the biggest players on the pitch and scampered away for a brilliant try.
With Eddie making the hard yards in the middle of the pitch, Bees began to set a strong platform and Josh made some fine runs at the heart of the defence to create space. When any space opens up on the pitch, Robert needs no invitation. Having another excellent day with the ball in hand, Robert shimmied between the bemused defenders to score not one but two fine tries.
As the game entered its final quarter, the Bees’ players showed the battle scars of a committed performance. Josh, Noah, Charlie and Tyler had all limped from the pitch but it didn’t matter which team was on the pitch as every single player was playing out of their skin. Joe battled phenomenally all morning and was justly rewarded with a carbon copy of the try he scored last week. As the clock ticked down Bees had time to launch a final assault on the Tamworth line and slick passing saw the ball beautifully shipped into Curtis’s hands. With electrifying pace Curtis raced clear to score the final try of the fixture.
