Great team performance despite the conditions

Bees vs Berkswell and Balsall Common.

As soon as the studs hit the turf, the dry start to the day disappeared, and the drizzle set in with increasing vigour - but the Bees spirit was not to be dampened!

Match 1

Berkswell kicked off and won back possession from Bees before stringing together a couple of quick phases, and some doubtful Bees tackling meant Berkswell got on the score board first.

Bees responded straight back from the kick off however winning the ball and spreading it wide to Sam for a try.

From the re-start Bees again retain the ball working up field through several phases for Ollie to score.

Play swung too and fro until Bees kicked from deep in their own territory to put pressure back on Berkswell - but Berkswell broke away and looked set to score but Sam intervened with a great tackle at half way and tracked back rapidly across the pitch. Berkswells support was good though and they managed to run in their second try from the breakdown.

Sustained pressure from Bees again pushed Berkswell back to their own half. They tried to clear their lines with a kick which was picked up by Ollie at the 22 and he weaved through the opposition for a great individual try.

End of first Half - 3:2 Bees.

Bees were able to gain ground early on following a penalty and advanced from their own 22 to the Berkswell 22 with a good kick from Sam. A free pass to Bees following a Berkswell infringement and Bees got the ball out to Ollie who stretched his legs to run in his hat trick.

The second half was tightening up but a good kick from Sam broke the deadlock putting Bees back into the Berkswell half. Bees kept possession from the ruck and popped the ball out to Will H to run in try number 5 for the Bees.

Berkswell were still chasing though and managed a breakaway. Ollie intervened with a try-saving tackle on the stroke of full-time to preserve the score at 5:2 to Bees.

Full time.5:2 Bees

Match 2.

Berkswell kick off. The game started a little scrappily. Bees managed some sustained pressure in Berkswells half but couldn't convert it to points.

Berkswell responded but again Bees tackling was strong against a Berkswell breakaway. The deadlock was finally broken with a Berkswell try. Sams best efforts to prevent it were overcome by good Berkswell support.

Again - Bees responded immediately - A strong run from Joe straight up the middle of the field saw him shake off tackles for a great individual try.

Bees kept the pressure up - Will not quite with enough pace to get around the outside, but good hands moved the ball back cross-field to Lochie who avoided the easy route and cut back towards the centre and somehow avoided all the tackles for another great try to put Bees 2:1 up at half time.

Half time.

Second half started with another try for Bees - this time from George with a storming run up the left wing for a well deserved try rewarding his hard work.

This was followed up swiftly with another run from Sam up the centre to get home for another try.

From the restart another good run from George up the left wing with support from Lauren went unrewarded and Berkswell won back possession and they broke to camp on Bees 22. A scrum and good hands by Berkswell secured them a second try to start fighting back.

But Bees had other ideas winning possession back from the kick-off. A break by Joe and good support and hands moved the ball to Ollie for him to finish with a try.

Bees closed out the last seconds of the game with a kick from Lochie up-field with follow-up from Sam to keep Berkswell under pressure on their own line.

Full time score 5:2 Bees.

Another great team performance - despite the weather!!... Well done everyone.
