George Thompson - RIP

It is sad to report that former Club President George Thompson died on Saturday, August 22nd after a long illness at the age of 88.

George, together with his identical twin brother Jim, was a very active member of Birmingham RFC in it’s pre-Portway, Barron Road days combining playing rugby with organising frequent social events and Easter tours. The friendly and lively atmosphere engendered is fondly remembered by many from that era. The cricket world is also a sadder place for his passing.

Our condolences go to George’s wife Zoe and family and of course to his brother Jim.

The funeral will be limited to family members only due to the present restrictions.
