With momentum on their side the Bees will be targeting 5 points from this game in their quest to climb out of the bottom three in NL 2 South

After collecting an invaluable 5 points at Bury St Edmunds, Pete Glackin's side will be determined to make it three (5 point) wins on the bounce when they face Barnes RFC. If they do so, and other results go their way, they could well climb out of the bottom three in NL2 South.

Barnes currently sit in 10th place on 56 points, 8 points ahead of the men from Portway, having won 10, drawn 1 and lost 16 games (the same as Bees). The Green & Golds have accrued 14 bonus points (5 try scoring and 9 losing) 3 more than the Bees, and obviously have not been subject to a points adjustment. They have scored 558 and conceded 655 points. This gives them a points difference of -97, compared to the -94 of Bees. Barnes have won 5 of 13 away games played, at Tonbridge Juddians, Dings Crusaders, Worthing Raiders, Old Albanian & Redruth. Over the last 5 games, the Green & Golds have won 3 and lost 2. Last weekend they lost 15 -22 at home to Clifton.

Bees won the earlier encounter between the two sides, 10-15, in December.

The Green & Golds run in consists of a home fixture against Canterbury, before finishing the season at London Irish Wild Geese.

With regard to the history of the Green & Golds, there are possibilities that Barnes earliest recorded game took place in November 1862, when they played Richmond at Barn Elms, but it is from the 1920's that the club's true history is clear. Moving to more recent times, in 2014/15 they finished second in National 3 London & SE and narrowly won the promotion play off, 22-27 after extra time, at Exmouth. 2016/17, saw Barnes relegated to Tier 5, only for them to bounce straight back to National League 2 South by winning the London & SE Premier Division in 2017/18.

Apropos team news, Pete Glackin is again afforded the luxury of being able to select a very strong squad. The starting XV is unchanged from the Bury St Edmunds game, and the replacements consist of JP Nel, Stewart Pearl, Matt Spink, Adam Clayton and Luke Smith.
