Bees took their 22 man squad to Bourneville RFC on Sunday expecting to find just the home team. Upon arrival it was clear that Barkers Butts had also arrived crashing our date with the home team. A slight readjustment to team selection, as the 2 games were going to be 25 mins each, and away we went ! Bees were quick to start and the backs pressed hard against their opposition, not allowing them any time at all. Soon Bees managed to gain territorial advantage and overpowered the opposition. Scores from Ben Smith (2), Ollie Sanderson and Mohammed Alkhalout, with two conversions from Lewis Edwards , meant the final score was 24-0 to Bees. The Bourneville team never gave up and were a credit to their coaches, they supported each other and showed great sportsmanship.
Match 2 against Barkers Butts was a different affair, Bees had a slurp of water following their previous match and were back on straight away. Barkers were fresh and up for the match , and Bees were a little weary and slow to start. Good defence from both sides and missed chances from Bees, meant that there was no score , until Andy Roadley ran the length of the pitch to score , which Lewis Edwards converted. Bees were the dominant side but could not convert their pressure into points . Barkers scored in the final few seconds but could not convert their try . A fine performance in both matches from Bees , all players in the squad deserve a pat on the back.
