Second sevens outing on the trot, as Bees look to build on good form shown at Ashby

Hot – very hot in fact – on the heels of reaching the semi-final of the main tournament event at the Ashby Sevens last Saturday, the Bees will be in sevens action again this Saturday (24th June) at the Olney Sevens, in Buckinghamshire (Sat Nav M46 4DW).

“Last Saturday saw what I believe was the first ever Bees Rugby 7s squad enter a tournament in excellent conditions. A fantastic day with great levels of rugby being played, we made it to the semi-finals of the main cup, losing to an elite 7s side called the Rambling Jesters 19-10 (tries from Hinds & Dixon-Jadwat)” said Bees Head of Rugby Pete Glackin.

“It was an outstanding performance from the entire squad and notably from new squad additions Umraan Dixon Jadwat, Sonny Young, Jack Secher and Harry O’Brien.”

“This week we are entering two sides into the Olney Sevens and it will be another great opportunity for the squad to continue our strength & conditioning and to spend quality time together as a unit.”

The first of two Bees sides – the “Bee Hives” will face Coventry, Ath Elites and Sherrards Assassins in the pool stages.

Captained and Vice-Captained again by Andy Weaver and Max Rodman respectively, the side wil also feature Zane Raimondi, Ashley Scriven, Michael Stephens, Jack Jolly, Jack Secher, Nathan Tilsley, Jevon Hinds and Matt Dight. The Hives will also feature two guest players - Andy Murray (no, not the tennis player) and Dan Rundle.

Meanwhile, the Bee Stings will line up against Castle Donington, Paggers Pirates and Spoonies in their pool games. Captained by Harry O’Brien, with Matt Spink as Vice Captain, the Stings will feature Reece Donaldson, George Radburn, Matthew Collier, Tom Greevy, Sean O’Sullivan, Sonny Young, Tawanda Chipadza, Sam Allen, Matthew Dickens and Hamza Diaba Suleiman.
