Fly half scoops three awards at Club Dinner & Awards Evening

The Birmingham & Solihull Rugby Club 2018 Dinner & Awards held on Friday evening (18th May) was a night to remember, especially for Max Rodman.

The young fly half scooped no less than three major awards at a special dinner which topped off a great season for the Bees. Rodman, who featured prominently in every game until injury ruled him out for the season at the end of March, walked away with the Coaches’ Player of the Season, the Players’ Player of the Season as well as the Supporters’ Player of the Year.

Winger Tawanda Chipadza took the Try of the season Award for his memorable score at Portway against Bridgnorth, whilst full back Harry O’Brien was honoured with the Coaches’ Most Improved Player accolade. Umraan Jadwat received a special “Comedy Moment of the Season” award for his “try that never was” against Bridgnorth.

Hornets players were recognised too, with Harry Barnes and Ben Cooper receiving the Coaches’ Most Improved and Player of the Season Awards respectively, whilst off the field, Dai Phillips was awarded Club Volunteer of the Year.

Guests at the dinner, hosted at the club’s ground at Portway, were entertained by guest speaker Mark Regan MBE, a Rugby World Cup winner with England in 2003 and a member of the successful British & Irish Lions side who achieved a 2-1 series victory in South Africa.
