It's a case of “keep right on to the end of the road” as Bees travel to Redruth looking to record “Back to Back” wins for the first time this season!

Following last Saturday's 18-0 win over Worthing Raiders, Bees make the long trip to Cornwall to face Redruth RFC. The men in Gold & Black will be working assiduously to record back to back victories for the first time this season, thus helping them in their quest to avoid an immediate return to the Midlands Premier Division.

Redruth RFC was founded in 1875. The men in Red were rather unfortunate to be relegated from National League 1 in 2010/11, after winning 12 games and accruing 62 points. 2018/19 marks their 8th successive season in NL2 South, last season they finished 5th on 89 points, 25 of which were bonus points.

Redruth currently sit in 10th place on 42 points. They have won 8, lost 10 and drawn 1 of their opening 19 games. After a very good start to the season, which saw the men in Red challenging at the top of the table, their form has dipped somewhat, winning only one of their last seven matches. Last time out they were defeated 24-15 at Clifton.

This season has seen Redruth experience 4 defeats at The Recreation Ground (Henley Hawks, Rams, Old Redcliffians and Worthing Raiders). Hopefully, Bees will add to the number!

The match at Portway, won 25-22 by Redruth, earlier in the season was certainly a tale of two half's! Bees dominated the opening 40 minutes (leading 19-13 at the break), only for Redruth to control the majority of the second-half. However, the rub of the green did not favour Bees when their 15 man rolling maul, deep into injury time at the end of the game, appeared to cross the Redruth line with Nathan Tilsley grounding the ball. Unfortunately, the match officials did not see it that way and adjudged the ball to have been held up!

With regard to team news, Corey Venus returns at full-back. Otherwise it is the side which started against Worthing Raiders last weekend. Pete Glackin is again afforded the luxury of naming a very strong bench (key to winning matches in NL2 South), which comprises of Joe Foreman, Zane Raimondi, Danny Wright, Marcus Brown and Nathan Tilsley.

Finally, to paraphrase the words of Sir Harry Lauder for the second time in this preview, Bees and their loyal supporters must remember that “when you're tired and weary still journey on!”
