Call for volunteers who can help with some labour or materials

Birmingham & Solihull Rugby Club will be taking part in the Nat West Rugby Force initiative on the weekend of Saturday 15th & Sunday 16th July.

Now in its fifth year, this RFU community initiative run in partnership between NatWest and England Rugby aims to help clubs across country attract new members and to become stronger and more sustainable.

As part of the scheme the club has secured a small grant and the plan is to make improvements to the physio room and, what is to become, the team room, next door.

Club captain Jack Jolly and team manager Rona Higgins are co-ordinating the weekend, with the players leading the working party.

All willing helpers are welcome to come down to Portway – even if it is just for an hour or two – to “muck in” and help with the work – no previous building experience is required!

Some initial “preparation” work has already been done, but there will be plenty of tasks to be done over the weekend. Once the work is completed, we will be having a BBQ afterwards.

In addition to supplying labour, there is also a requirement for some items to help in the fit out. If anyone can help supply any of the following items, please contact Rona Higgins via Facebook or by email ronahiggins@hotmail.com .

- Decent second-hand sofas
- Stackable chairs similar to the ones in the clubhouse
- Carpets / floor covering (approx size of each room is 6m x9m)
- Decent sized off cuts of Astro turf
- Small fridge
- Decorating equipment, brushes, rollers etc
- New windows – dimensions can be supplied on request!

We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at Portway over the weekend of the 15th/16th.
