M.S.Owen

The club was sad to learn this morning that a former captain and President of Birmingham Rugby Club M.S.Owen passed away yesterday.

“Monty” Owen was Vice Captain of Birmingham Rugby Club in 1951 and was Club Captain in 1952/53. He became President in 1961, a post he held until 1968. A front row forward, Monty also played for the North Midlands.

He was a team mate of current Vice President Bill Harris in 1952 and, according to Bill, was a well liked gentleman who did a great deal for the Birmingham Club as then was.

Everyone associated with Birmingham & Solihull Rugby Club will, I am sure, wish to pass on their condolences to Monty’s family and friends.
