Day 1 – Land’s End to St Columb Major

After months of preparation (but sadly with only moderate training), tomorrow (Wednesday 21st June) on the longest day of the year, five intrepid cyclists led by Chairman of Rugby Dai Phillips embark on their epic cycling challenge to raise funds for Birmingham & Solihull Rugby Club.

“LEJOG4THEBOG”, aka as the Bees’ Cess Pit Challenge, will see five blokes of varying vintages and fitness cycle from Lands’ End to John O’Groats (LEJOG) to raise money for a new Cess Pit (THEBOG) at Birmingham & Solihull Rugby Club. Any money left over will then help to also fund a floodlighting project at the club’s Portway ground.

The “infamous five” hope to complete the challenge over 13 buttock clenching days in the saddle, on a route which will cover 1,030 miles. They will be nursed along throughout their journey by a mobile support team.

Tomorrow - Day 1 - will see the LEJOG4THEBOG team set off from Land’s End on an 86km (that’s 54 miles in old money) spin up to St Columb Major.

Everyone at the Club would like to wish Dai, Phil, Ben, Mark and ‘Spuff - along with support team Jackie, Andrew and Buster (the dog) - a good and safe trip.

As they set off on their adventure, a total of £1,295 (9% of their target) has been donated to date. Hopefully 1,030 miles later, they wil have gotten closer to their goal.

Donations however great or small will be gratefully received and will be just reward for their endeavours via https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/LEJOG4THEBOG
