Recently relegated from National League 2 North, the club wishes to appoint a new Head of Rugby who can not only help ensure an immediate return to Level 4 rugby for the first team, but also to build upon the good work that has been done in recent years to further strengthen the development of all senior and junior rugby at the club.
The new Head of Rugby will be a pivotal member of the club’s management team and will be required to work both at a strategic and tactical level, playing a vital role in the delivery of short, medium and longer term objectives of one of the major rugby clubs in the West Midlands area.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the club’s Board of Directors, key responsibilities of this wide ranging role include:-
• Management of all elements of first team rugby affairs, including the recruitment, development and performance management of players and backroom staff as well as accountability for rthe club’s rugby-related budget
• Management of “the rugby pyramid” at the club, co-ordinating all aspects of policy, coaching standards and engagement with particular emphasis on further developing the pathway from junior sides, through to Colts and the Second XV
• Being an ambassador for all rugby-related matters at the club, the local community and the wider rugby family
• Playing a central role in the Management Team of the club, not only in day to day matters, but also in the delivery of the longer term goals and vision of the club
Role and Remuneration
Although not necessarily a full time position, the nature of the role will require the successful candidate to be able to put the requisite time and commitment into the job. The remuneration will be commensurate with experience and ability.
Desired Attributes
Applicants for this role should ideally have many (but not necessarily all) of the following attributes;-
• Hold a Level 3 Rugby Union Coaching Qualification
• Have had previous management/coaching/ and/or playing experience in senior rugby sides
• Have vision, drive, ambition and determination
• Have excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate at all levels
• Be hard working, honest, trustworthy and able to buy into and positively shape the culture and ethos at the club
