Highly experienced player/coach to take reins as Hornets Team Manager & Coach in forthcoming season

Birmingham & Solihull Rugby Club have appointed former Leamington RFC Head Coach Tom Greevy as their new Hornets Team Manager & Coach for the forthcoming season.

The Hornets – the new name for Birmingham & Solihull Rugby’s Second XV – is a key element of the club’s plans this year to strengthen the pathway from Mini & Junior and Colts level all the way through to first team rugby.

Tom Greevy brings vast experience from his time at Leamington where he held the role of Head Coach from 2012. He has also held a number of coaching roles with representative squads including the Irish Exiles U19s, Warwickshire U20s and Midlands Colleges U19s.

The current University of Warwick coach is a RFU Level 3 qualified and has also played for a number of Warwickshire clubs including Coventry Rugby, Broadstreet RFC & Nuneaton RFC.

Commenting on Tom Greevy’s appointment, Head of Rugby Pete Glackin said, “Tom is a fantastic addition to the senior management and coaching team. We have a full set of fixtures this year and it is vital that the Hornets are well-managed, well-organised and coached consistently, with a leader in place ready for the start of pre-season training which commences this week.”

“As I said when I joined as Head of Rugby, a strong second team, regularly fulfilling its fixtures, will be a cornerstone of the club’s future success. It will provide senior rugby for former colts, promising players who are pushing for first team places, as well as a proving ground for first team players returning from injury.”

He added, “Tom is an experienced player and coach and will help to further build on the momentum that we are striving to create right across the club. Like all good old second row forwards, his playing kit is always in the boot of his car too!”

Full information about the Hornets and its 2016/17 fixtures can be found on the club’s website www.beesrugby.com .
