"So long and thanks for all the fish"

Clive Chapman, head coach for the last 3 years, announced after the North Midlands Final that he would be stepping down from his role, citing health and family reasons.

Clive's association with the club started back in the 80s when he was one of Solihull RUFC's colts. He left to join the army and came back to Bees to help run a M&J age group. He was instrumental in setting the Advanced Player Development Group within the youth section, before becoming coach to the Hornets.

He left to pursue his coaching career elsewhere, before returning to the club in 2019.

"Clive has been instrumental in the re-build of the senior playing side of the club since we changed to an amateur team" Club Chairman and Head of Senior Rugby, Lou Lupoli, said. "He stepped up without question at a very uncertain time for us. He has helped to create a real traditional rugby club feel at Portway whilst at the same time overseeing a fantastic season with a league and cup double on our return to the RFU pyramid. He knows that he will always find a warm welcome at the club - "Once a Bee, always a Bee". We wish him a long and fulfilling retirement"

The search for a replacement has started.
