Fond farewells to both playing and performance team members

Birmingham & Solihull Rugby Club have confirmed the departures of some squad and performance team members as the curtain is finally drawn on 2017/18 season.

On the playing side, Jack Secher (relocating for work reasons to Cardiff), Jake Ngatchu (University), Sam Allen, Sonny Young and Matthew Collier will be leaving the squad.

Whilst on the backroom staff side, Hornets’ (Second team) Player/Coach Tom Greevy will be moving to Stratford Upon Avon RFC, with Strength & Conditioning Specialist Richard Taylor also stepping down from his role to focus on other work commitments.

Commenting on the announcement, Head of Rugby Pete Glackin said “Everyone in the squad has put in a massive shift this season and I would like to thank each departing player for their hard work and efforts and wish them well as they move on to pastures new.”

“Our fitness was a key factor in our performance and, ultimately, winning promotion this season, so I would like to thank Richard Taylor for his considerable contribution. Tom Greevy has also done a great job with our Hornets team where he has lead by example both on and off the pitch.”

He added, “Our attention is already turning to next season and, in combination with a very small turnover in our existing squad, we are already well advanced in our recruitment to further strengthen our playing pool in readiness for life in National League 2 South, which will involve both a larger match day squad and an increased number of league fixtures.”

“We are already receiving applications for Tom and Richard’s replacements too and Pearly and I will be sitting down to review these in due course.”
