Bees hope to down high flying Henley Hawks at Portway

Following last weekend's break, a refreshed Bees will be looking to build on their excellent showing at London Irish Wild Geese with a win against high flying Henley Hawks. The Hawks sit second in the Table at present, having won eight and lost two of their opening ten games, accruing 38 points in the process. Their last game saw them record a convincing 47-12 home win over Clifton.

Henley RFC started life as Old Henleiensians (Old boys of Henley Grammar School) in August 1930. After a break during the war years, the club was eventually re-founded in 1954. However, it was not until 1963 that Old Henleiensians changed its name to Henley RFC. Sir Clive Woodward cut his teeth as Head Coach at Henley in the early 90's. In 1999, Henley experienced a good run in the Tetley's Bitter Cup. They managed to beat Bedford before bowing out to Gloucester at Kingsholm. In recent years, they have been somewhat of a yo-yo club. In 2012/13, they won National League 2 South, only to be relegated from National League 1 the following season. Unfortunately, it was a case of deja vu, when in 2014/15 they won National League 2 South, only to be relegated from National League 1 at the end of the 2015/16 season. 2018/19, marks their third successive season in National League 2 South. Last season they finished 9th on 73 points.

Apropos team news, Pete Glackin is able to name pretty much an unchanged side for this fixture. The notable exception being Zane Raimondi who, having recovered from injury, is in the starting lineup for the first time this season. Mike Hagan continues at scrum half following his impressive debut at LI Wild Geese. Finally, all connected with Bees will be pleased to see Danny Wright involved with the squad again following his recent illness.
