First pre-season outing for members of new squad

A dozen members of the Bees’ squad will represent the club this Saturday (17th June) in the Ashby Sevens.

The twelve-man squad will be captained by Andy Weaver, with Max Rodman acting as vice-captain.

Newcomers Umraan Dixon Jadwat, Matthew Dickens, Sean O’Sullivan, Jack Secher, Harry O’Brien and Sonny Young will join Reece Donaldson, Michael Stephens, Jevon Hinds and Alex O’Malley.

Hosted at Ashby De la Zouch Rugby Club in Leicestershire (postcode for Sat Nav LE65 1DP), the Ashby Sevens brings together a wide range of sides. The tournament starts at 11am on Saturday morning, with the Bees in action against Ashby Bulls (12.30pm), City Stunts B (1.50pm) and Wailers (2.30pm), with Group placed fixtures commencing at 4pm.

“This is the first of three weekends of Sevens rugby and as well as the 12 named players, I hope that as many of the squad can travel over to Ashby to support the lads” said Head of Rugby Pete Glackin.

“It gives us a great opportunity - not only work on skills and fitness levels in a tournament environment - but also to spend quality time together as a full squad.”
