Midlands Premier opposition comes to Portway this Saturday

Having completed their second warm up game against Earlsdon last weekend, Burton RFC are the visitors to Portway this Saturday (18th August, KO 2.00pm) as the Bees step up their pre-season preparations.

Burton, who were crowned Midlands 1 West league champions by last season losing only two games all season, will take their place in the Midlands Premier Division next season.

Pete Glackin and Stewart Pearl have named the squad that will feature in Saturday’s game. Joe Foreman, Zane Raimondi and Kurtis Payne start in the front row, with Matt Spink and Keenan Cooper providing the engine-room grunt. Danny Wright, wearing the skipper’s armband at blindside flanker, is joined by Ash Scriven at open side and Marcus Brown at No.8.

Sean O’Sullivan and Harry O’Brien form the half back pairing, with Nathan Tilsley and Dan Kelly at inside and outside centre respectively. Matt Dight and George Bvuma provide the gas on the wings, with Corey Venus at full back.

Twelve replacements are set to feature in the game, including Alex Willis, Umraan Jadwat, Will Goodman, Kai Owen, Aron Boayke, Jack Jolly, Jevon Hinds, Mike Ho, Ollie Walker, Alex O’Malley, Alex Bartley and Jacob Lisle.

With the first team pitch recently re-seeded and rain falling only latterly, Saturday’s game will be played on the second team pitch.
