Planning well in hand for 2017/18 season

Bees’ Head of Rugby Pete Glackin has locked in his plans for pre-season, as the club is already gearing up for the 2017/18 campaign.

The squad will report for the start of a rigorous pre-season programme on Tuesday 13th June, as part of an extensive 12 week run up to their first game in the newly named Midlands Premier League on Saturday 2nd September.

The Bees have entered three Sevens tournaments across three successive weekends, starting off with the Ashby 7s on Saturday 17th June. This will be followed by appearances at the Olney 7s on Saturday 24th and the RFU 24/Sevens regional final at Worcester Warriors’ Sixways Stadium.

The squad will be spearheading efforts at the NatWest RugbyForce weekend at Portway on the 15th/16th July, before readying themselves for four pre-season fixtures in August.

First up will be a trip to 2016/17 Midlands 2 West (South) Champions Rugby Lions on Saturday 5th August, followed by another away fixture at old friends and fellow Level 5 side, Dings Crusaders on the (glorious) 12th.

Midlands West 1 side (Level 6) Sutton Coldfield come to Portway on Saturday 19th August, before newly promoted to Level 4 Broadstreet RFC visit Portway on Friday 25th August for the final warm up game before the 2017/18 League campaign kicks off.

Keep your eye on the website/social media channels over the summer months for regular updates.
