Pre-season schedule confirmed, which includes 3 Sevens tournaments and 4 warm up games in the mix

With the summer solstice not yet upon us, its back to business already at Birmingham & Solihull Rugby Club as pre-season officially begins tomorrow (Tuesday 19th June).

Head of Rugby Pete Glackin will be welcoming the squad back to Portway at the start of an eleven-week programme, geared to get everyone prepared for the challenges that lay ahead for the 2018/19 season as the Bees compete in National League 2 South, with the Hornets once again playing in the Midlands Reserve League.

June and July will feature a mixture of gym and field-based sessions, as well as competing in three Sevens Tournaments - Olney (23rd June), Earlsdon (14th July) and Dudley Kingswinford (21st July). The squad will also be hopeful of qualifying for the Regional Final of the RFU 24 Sevens tournament, which is being hosted at Portway on Saturday 7th July.

The month of August will then give the squad the chance to further build in readiness for the new league campaign, with four pre-season fixtures already locked in.

Saturday 4th August will see the club travel down to Bournmouth RFC, with back to back home friendlies at Portway on 11th and 18th August against Earlsdon RFC and Burton RFC respectively. The final warm up game will be at Stourton Park against National League 2 North opposition Stourbridge, under Friday Night Lights on 24th August.

“Without doubt, a key foundation stone for our success last season was laid in the pre-season” said Head of Rugby Pete Glackin. “Having retained no less than 33 squad members from our 2017/18 campaign along with our core performance team, as well as adding 8 new players to date, we are in a great position to start our preparations this week."

"Our journey continues and, as we said last season, we start and finish this together as one squad."
