Team LEJOG head for Scotland on the second stage of 1,030-mile fundraiser

The LEJOG4THEBOG team will be back on the road tomorrow morning (Wednesday 28th June) after a damp but relaxing rest day in the Lake District.

The boys were able to watch the exciting 31-31 draw in the Lions v Hurricanes game at Windermere Rugby Club. With very heavy rain all day in the Lakes and nothing much else to do, team LEJOG decided to heed medical advice from club Doctor, Dr Lupoli.

An extensive rehydration programme has therefore today consisted of sampling local produce from, inter alia, the Coniston Brewery, Jennings Brewery and Cumberland Breweries.

In team news, five has become four as one of the riders Mark has had to leave the challenge as planned to attend to family commitments. Sad as they are to lose one of their squad, Dai, Ben, Phil and Spuff are all reportedly in good shape both mentally and physically as they prepare to complete the second half of their challenge. A small matter of cycling 528 miles over the next seven days, to reach John O’Groats and “get the job done”.

They will set out at 8am tomorrow morning, crossing the Scottish border, by passing Gretna Green and heading for their overnight stop just north of Dumfries. That’s 76 miles in the saddle.

As well as updates on the Bees’ website, you can also follow the progress on Dai’s FB page, and his blog www.lejog4thebog.blogspot.com .
