It is an honour and great surprise, to have been chosen as Club President and is something I could not have imagined of when joining the Solihull Club in 1982, where my youngest lad started in the Mini & Junior Section.

Firstly I would like to thank outgoing President, Bill Smith and congratulate him on the fine work he has contributed to, in the smooth running of our Club and I will endeavour to continue his good example.

Birmingham & Solihull Rugby Club is all about active volunteerism and participation, we have many talented volunteers who give freely of their time, energy and commitment in the running of our club. These members undertake a range of tasks on behalf of the Club from coaching, sitting on committees, securing sponsorship, working behind the bar, preparing food and many other tasks that invariably happen behind the scenes, but without which our Club could not function.

I would personally appeal to all Club supporters to put their names forward to help in the running of your Club (even if it is for one event only) as everybody’s help is much appreciated, so please come and join our Bees Family.

To our Management Team, our new Head of Rugby Ian Matthews, together with his Performance Team, the Club's Operations Team, our oustanding Mini & Junior Section and the MANY unsung volunteers, who ensure everything is in place for all our teams, I extend my deepest thanks and appreciation, knowing that your dedication and commitment will ensure the continued success of our Club,

l wish Club Captain Chris Goddard and ALL players at every level, not forgetting our Ladies Section, a successful, enjoyable and injury-free season.

As with all sporting organisations today, our Club faces significant financial challenges and in this regard we are extremely grateful to our sponsors for their unstinting support, without which we could not continue to provide the important facilities and services we do. Please support them all whenever you can.

I look forward to a successful year ahead for the Bees both on and off the pitch together with the opportunity for me, as President, to meet you ALL throughout the season, together with making new rugby friends when welcoming our league oposition.
