Pertemps Bees 43 Waterloo 21

Pertemps Bees 43 Waterloo 21
Pertemps Bees produced a superb display of finishing to trounce plucky Waterloo in an entertaining a free-scoring contest at Sharmans Cross Road.
The Bees displayed admirable professionalism ahead of their EDF Energy National Trophy quarter-final at Newbury by scoring six tries in an imprssive display of finishing.
Waterloo, as expected, were committed and spirited to the end but the Bees had too much pace and creativity behind the scrums and they eventually eased to their biggest win of the season.
The Bees were 17-0 up by half time and built impressively on that lead in the second half before Waterloo's efforts were rewarded with three consolation tries but no bonus point.
An early penalty from Jon Higgins, who kicked impressively throughout, got the scoerboard ticking and Akapusi Qera, the outstanding Fijian flanker, then burst through for the first of his two tries.
Higgins added the extras and again converted when Matt Nuthall launched a counter-attack from inside his own half, chipped ahead and scrum-half Rod Petty delivered the scoring pass to Canadian international Brodie Henderson.
Petty scored himself early in the second half and Higgins added the conversion to make it 24-0 before Waterloo responded with their first try from lock Chris Plantchant and a conversion from Alex Davies.
It only briefly staunched the flow of points as hooker Matt Miles powered through for the bonus point try and then Qera prised open the visitors' defence to put Nuthall over for his eleventh try of the campaign.
Peter Ince was driven over for Waterloo's second try but Qera got his 12th of the season as the game entered stoppage time. Davies completed the scoring by converting his own try for Waterloo.

LARSEN IN SQUAD FOR WATERLOO (February 23 2007)
Wales Under-20 back-row forward Matt Larsen has been included in Pertemps Bees' squad for the first time for the National League One game against Waterloo at Sharmans Cross Road on Saturday February 24 (2pm).
Larsen joined Pertemps Bees from Cardiff Blues three weeks ago but his availability has so far been restricted by his studies at Leicester University and his involvement with the Wales Under-20 squad.
But Larsen has been able to train this week, he is available this weekend and has been named as a replacement for the Waterloo game.
Canadian winger Brodie Henderson, Australia sevens scrum-half Rod Petty, prop Emyr Lewis, skipper Mark Cornwell and Fijian flanker Akapusi Qera all return to the starting XV after they sat out last week's EDF Energy Cup win over Nuneaton.
Henderson displaces Kyle Palm and Petty has been preferred to Reece Spee in the two changes to the back division.
Lewis, who has recovered from a sore back, takes the place of Brendan Lynch on the tighthead with Cornwell and Qera returning in place of Alex Davidson and Mark George.
Hooker Rob Elloway, who is on loan from Gloucester, rejoins the squad as a replacement but he will be cup-tied for the EDF Energy National Trophy quarter-final at Newbury on March 3.
