PERTEMPS BEES RELEASE THREE (July 1 2007)
PERTEMPS BEES RELEASE THREE (July 1 2007)
Pertemps Bees have been forced to release three members of their squad because
of a new regulation which will prevent National League One clubs from playing
amateur players next season.
Tongan number eight Leo Halavatau, Australia sevens international Rod Petty
and South African winger Kyle Palm all played for Pertemps Bees last season
as amateurs using either student, working holiday or visitor visas.
But from next season National One will be regarded as a fully-professional league
by the Home Office which means that full work permits will be required for all
non-EU players.
Halavatau, Petty and Palm had all committed themselves to the Bees for the new
season but have now been informed that their registrations have been cancelled.
"We have had to send them a letter explaining the situation, which wasn't
a pleasant job to do," said Ben Harvey, Pertemps Bees' backs coach.
"We are already looking at possible replacement signings to strengthen
our squad."
