Bees hooker Matt Miles has been voted the Bees Supporters Association Player of
the Year for this season.
Miles, 25, started every game in the final three months of the second half of
the season after Stewart Pearl broke a hand in the National One defeat at Rotherham.
There was no specialist back-up hooker for most of that time, though Rob Elloway
was briefly signed on a short-term loan deal from Gloucester. Cover was provided
during February, March and April by Emyr Lewis and Casey Dunning, both specialist
props but Miles managed to get through to the end of the season unscathed.
His consistent performances secured Miles the coveted award, voted for by members
of the Bees Supporters' Association, those who travel regularly away to support
the team.
Miles is a former Wales Under-21 international who arrived at Sharmans Cross Road
from Northampton Saints at the start of the 2004/05 season. He recently signed
a new contract which committed him to the club for a fourth season.
