FOWKES
RECALLED BY NOTTINGHAM (Febuary 19 2007)
Pertemps
Bees will be without prop Neil Fowkes for the remainder of the season following
Nottingham's decision to recall him from a loan deal.
Fowkes arrived on an open-ended arrangement last month to ease Pertemps Bees'
front row difficulties following a long-term injury to Canadian international
Casey Dunning.
He scored a try against Nottingham at Meadow Lane on January 7 but was subsequently
recalled by Nottingham for two EDF Energy National Trophy games and is no longer
eligible to return to Pertemps Bees for a third loan spell.
Pertemps Bees are also expecting to lose full-back Jon Goodridge for similar reasons.
Goodridge has spent most of the season on loan at Pertemps Bees from Gloucester
though he was recalled to play in an EDF Energy Cup match against Bristol in October
and again for Sunday's Guinness Premiership match at Saracens.
Goodridge played the last seven minutes of that game as a replacement flanker
as Gloucester had run out of specialist forwards.
Pertemps Bees are checking Goodridge's availability with the RFU but Matt Nuthall
will continue at full-back for the National One game against Waterloo at Sharmans
Cross Road on Saturday February 24 (2pm).
Nuthall, normally a winger, played at full-back in last Saturday's National Trophy
fifth round victory over Nuneaton and will continue in that position for the quarter-final
at Newbury on March 3.
Pertemps Bees expect to welcome back hooker Rob Elloway, who is also on loan from
Gloucester, for the Waterloo game but former England prop Mark Linnett, who again
came out of retirement against Nuneaton, is not available this weekend as he is
playing for the England Legends side against their Irish counterparts in Dublin.
Prop Emyr Lewis is expected to return to the front row against Waterloo after
a back injury restricted him to a replacement's role against Nuneaton. There is
also better news of two more of Pertemps Bees' injured front row forwards.
Dunning, who broke an ankle against Sedgley Park in December, is now off his crutches
and is expected to be given the all-clear to resume running again this week. He
could be back playing again by the middle of next month.
Hooker Stewart Pearl, who broke a hand against Rotherham three weeks ago, is also
due to have the cast removed this week and he could also be in line for a mid-March
return to action which would further ease Pertemps Bees front row problems.
