MATTHEWS SET FOR NUNEATON RETURN (February 13 2007)
Pertemps Bees are hopeful that England sevens flanker Will Matthews will be able to return to action in the delayed EDF Energy National Trophy fifth round tie against Nuneaton at Sharmans Cross Road on Saturday February 17 (2pm).
The former Gloucester player would have been forced to sit out the tie had the game gone ahead as planned last Saturday because of a hamstring injury. But the game was postponed because of a snowbound pitch and Pertemps Bees hope that Matthews' condition will have improved during the enforced lay-off.
Pertemps Bees winger Adam Billig will make his first appearance since he broke a thumb in the National One defeat at Nottingham on January 7. The former Leicester and Bristol player's scheduled comeback was delayed by last week's postponement.
But three loan signings - full-back Jon Goodridge, prop Neil Fowkes and hooker Robn Elloway - will have to sit out the Nuneaton game because they are cup-tied. Fowkes played for Nottingham in their Trophy fourth round win at Sedgley Park and Goodridge and Elloway both played for Gloucester in the EDF Energy Cup last autumn.
The winners of Saturday's game will travel to Newbury in the Trophy quarter-finals on March 3.
