NEWBURY
TIE AWAITS PERTEMPS BEES (February 12 2007)
Pertemps Bees will have to travel to National League One rivals Newbury in the
quarter-finals of the EDF Energy National Trophy if they win their postponed fifth
round tie against Nuneaton.
The Nuneaton game was due to be played at Sharmans Cross Road last Saturday but
was put back seven days because of a snowbound pitch. The teams will attempt to
play the game at Sharmans Cross Road this Saturday (February 17).
The winners of the tie will travel to Newbury on March 3. Newbury reached the
quarter-finals with a 27-7 win at Bridgwater & Albion of National Three South
last Saturday.
Newbury, who are coached by new England sevens coach Ben Ryan, include former
Pertemps Bees fly-half Tim Walsh in their squad. Walsh, a former Australia sevens
international, spent two seasons at Sharmans Cross Road before he moved to Newbury
last summer.
Lydney, who are coached by former Pertemps Bees head coach Paul Williams, face
a trip to either Bedford or Exeter in the quarter-finals as reward for their fifth
round victory over National Three South rivals North Walsham.
