BEES BACK IN CHAMPIONSHIP ACTION AGAINST HIGH FLYING BRISTOL

Thursady 3rd December 2009

The Bees return to league action this weekend as they head South West to face second placed Bristol RFC in the Championship clash at The Memorial Stadium this Sunday, 6th December.

With a bout of flu hitting the Bees squad this week, the starting line-up won’t be finalised until the team heads down to Bristol, giving as many players as possible sufficient time to recover.

Bees Assistant Coach Eugene Martin is looking to build on some of the more positive aspects of last week’s B&I Cup defeat to Cardiff, with several new players still bedding into the Bees young squad.

“We’re making good progress with the forward play, and we’ve been working hard on our line-out this week to address what was a significant area of weakness in the Cardiff game”, explained Eugene Martin.

“In the backs we know we need to be a lot tighter – we will be looking for a marked improvement particularly in our defence as the new recruits come to terms with our system.”

The Bristol v Birmingham & Solihull Bees RFC Championship game kicks off at 3pm on Sunday, 6th December at The Memorial Stadium, Filton Avenue, Bristol.

The Bees squad is as follows:- Ken Dowding, Stuart Philpott, Joe Reid , Simon Pitfield, Stuart Ault,Ross Noonan, Rob Bell, Leo Halavatau, Rob Petty, Ben Patston, Mitch Culpin, Ryan Tomlinson, Will Lawson, Simon Hunt, Mike Penn. Dale Garner, Matt Long ,Alex Davidson, Adam Clayton, Sam Brown, Ed Binham and Ronnie McLean.
